Question 2nd Ps4 controller

I picked up a new one today but each time I press the button on the new one it turns off the first controller and then the new one is the only one on.

Unlike the PS3, if you activate a second controller with the PS4, it has to be signed in on a different account or as a guest. You can't have two controllers active at the same time on the same account, annoying as that may be. If you try, it'll turn off the first controller. Furthermore, each and every time you log in as a guest with a second controller, you've got to change the controller settings from the guest menu, if you don't use Sony's battery draining default settings. It VERY annoyingly doesn't default to the player or main user account settings. Another annoyance about the PS4, if you're playing split screen on a two player game, your guest who isn't even logged in with an account will often be given a trophy. That one might be a more subjective annoyance on my part, as I'm constantly having to replay parts to redo trophies when I play a Lego game with my 6 year old nephew, because he has to have controller one, because the light is blue, even though I'm the one earning the trophies, just logged in as a guest on my own machine.

I miss the days of the PS3 controller and prior to that. This new DS4 controller has been the worst experience of gaming for me anyway. The layout design is nice aside from
[Show spoiler]the terrible share/option buttons being tough to press in since they're nearly flat with the surface, the awful USB connector to the controller is flimsy as hell, and often doesn't make the connection, the blue tooth connection to the PS4 sometimes fails to register with the console which is ridiculous (a controller that can't communicate with the console it was made for), and this was the first controller where the shoulder buttons started sticking so the game would constantly be in attack mode till I fixed it and replaced it with a new controller of $60.
Not good at all for whoever designed it compared to the very reliable PS3 controller.

I went back and used my DualShock 3 yesterday and it’s sooooooo much lighter than the DS4. You can almost forget your holding one. I really really hope MS gets a proper screenshot button next “gen.” I love snapping them off while playing on both the Switch and PS4 but the MS workaround is atrocious.
