$30 Mail In rebate Saw this thought it was a decent price. Already cheaper without rebate compared to amazon Unfortunately Best Buy, Frys and Microcenter are all excluded from claiming rebate for those of us who would prefer to PM and buy it locally so as to be able to return easier it if it turns out it does not work well in our homes (DONT CLAIM A REBATE OF COURSE), But amazon reviews seem to be solid specifically for media streaming. Staples is eligible but they have to PM and ship you plus no guarantee on the same barcode which is annoying. I am thinking to go this route personally. |

It looks like the instant rebates on this item have expired (at least for now). I'm skeptical they'll reinstate it this week (which is when the rebate expires).
I may be in need of a wireless extender soon, and would've pulled the trigger on this, but without the instant rebate there are a lot of other extenders in the same price range so I guess I'll be waiting. |

Ill let you know how this one works out, shows up for me tomorrow.
Mainly want it to use a chromecast in my basement where the signal is stuck at .5 MBps down, and other side of house where signal drops off. I know what the issue is I keep the router in the upper corner of the house, but I need it there. This is supposed to extend range 75+ feet so lets see ![]() |

Interestingly enough, the Asus is still showing up in B&H ads in my browser (google ad services) and it says "Independence Day $20 off". Confusing, since the IR isn't showing up on it now, unless their celebration was 2 weeks early. Last edited by thetony; 06-27-2016 at 05:03 AM. |

So i've used it for two days.
Setup was not too bad. I also have an Asus Router so i think that helped but your router type should be inconsequential, based upon my setup. Only thing that somewhat surprised me since I did not realize how the repeater would actually work is that it maintains its own SSID, so if my signal is normally called "Home Wi-Fi" it is called "Home Wi-Fi_RPT" Day 1 was me moving it around to like 4-5 places to find best. Today i really got to use it fully. Went to basement set up new Chromecast. One nice thing is no matter which SSID im on I can cast to the chromecast since all on same network. Speed test in basement roughly 50 feet away and floor down. I have a 90 Down at the router wired. It was roughly 22-25 where I plugged it in. And then at basement I was at 12-15 down. Thankfully more than enough for a stable stream from YouTube and Netflix both which held at 720p/1080p without buffering. Now the other areas I have not actively tested, but I seem to be getting a solid signal in about a 50-65ft circle so not quite 75 ft as advertised. For an item that will end up costing me $15 more than happy, could have even gotten two I guess to fill in any gaps. But if this device were more than $30-35 I would say look for something better if you want a solid signal to be maintained. For my purposes it seems to be fine though. |

You can change the name of the ext to be the same as the original router. Its easier to move around the house but you will suffer more interference than setting them a separate name. Any extender will make you lose some mb. The other option is using a power line extender.
