Default Daft Punk Interstella 5555

Is there anybody out there who could test for me if the Blu-ray of Daft Punk's Interstella 5555 can be played on a region B player? The database on blu-ray.com seems inconclusive.

Why don't you just buy a region B one? Its out in UK, DE and France.

Only bought this recently. I ordered the UK version but it had the German classification sticker on it, so I'm assuming it's the same.
My Blu-ray player (Samsung BD-H6500) goes into a frenzy when playing this disc. It's unbelievable how distracting and loud the searching noise is. Are all releases the same? Is a release that won't cause this available anywhere??? I know the picture quality is a let down, but right now I just want a Blu release that doesn't make my player sound like it's going to blow up if possible.

Do animated films get that big of a bump from jumping to blu-ray? I have this on DvD and i'm fine with the transfer but I was just kinda wondering how big of a bump there is.

That didn't happen with me. Recommend trying another player to make sure the disc isn't defective or damaged or anything.

Depends on the title, how well it was preserved, how good the transfer is, and whether it was made in an HD format or not to begin with. Most theatrically-released animation will look great, usually benefiting from thinner-looking pencil lines, more textures to the art (like brush strokes for painted scenes--but I swear you can see the texture of the crayons for all the older Charlie Brown movies, and the texture of the construction paper for the South Park movie). Disney movies on Blu-Ray look damn near perfect.

That being said, I remember Interstella 5555 is exceptionally soft and hazy-looking. Lots of aliasing and banding. Some user reviews indicate it may be an upscale. The bump in detail is not that substantial, so upgrading it is probably not recommended.

To answer the OP, I just checked my copy in the Region-B setting on my player, and it worked.

There are some which have heavy DNR and EE. Regarding what I bolded.
Which company owns the rights to this for a local release or one from another country which isn't an upscale?

.
Yeah, I tried on 2 other players. A Laser 3000 Multi-region BD player. Which was noisier than my Samsung. Also on a Panasonic player. A little quieter but still pretty distracting.
Nothing visually wrong with the disc.
I did read someone mention it also on it's Amazon sale page, in the comments section.
So I should be fine to just get another one ya think?

True. Personally, those issues bother me with live-action movies, but not animation. But it's good to point that out for anybody considering upgrades.

The disc was put out by EMI. It looks like they had the rights to it since 2003 (for the DVD), and they distribute in all regions. I have my doubts the rights would be with anybody else.

Hmmm...I read other folks had issues with the disc outputting to PAL, and I wonder if that's what's making the players struggle.

It sounds like a crapshoot on Amazon, different sellers seem to be giving out different editions, some that work and some that don't. I'm hesitant to recommend a replacement copy--one edition currently runs for over $200 (might be OOP), the other says it needs players with 1080i capability (which might tie back to it being PAL). When you played it in the multi-region player, did you set it to Region-B? Otherwise, I'm not sure how to mitigate the noise.
