I was in the mall yesturday, and went into FYE to see if they had Blade Runner BD. The selection of BD is 2x that of HD DVD. However, I will NOT buy Blu-rays in there. Most BD and HD DVDs are $39.95. Are you kidding me???

The local one I walked into yesterday was still selling them. I almost bought Blade Runner, but it was too expensive.

Some stores don't carry Blu or HD, some mix the stock in with standard def (really stupid in my opinion, but they didn't ask for my opinion sooooo), and some have a separate HD section.

Must be in my area then, cause they store clerks said they arent selling them anymore. I was fortunate to find a copy of bladerunner at circuit city under all their mess (last one). But my day was better when i found MANY of them in hd-dvd, hope WB should make their decision soon!

Fye and Hollywwod Video is the last place I would ever buy a BD or DVD from,
they are always priced at list or when you do find somthing at a decent price its with a mail in rebate.

FYE's near me sell both formats, at full list price (although new titles are sometimes discounted $5.)

I was just at the FYE by me. They sell Blu Rays and HD Dvd there. I went to get close encounters and Blade Runner because I have gift certificates that I have to use. They wanted 49.99 for Close Encounters and 39.99 for Blade Runner. 89.99 for the deluxe blade runner. Thats crazy priceing.

I'm not a big fan of the WAY overpriced F.Y.E. but at least ours here is about a 10-1 in terms of Blu and does have a few decent prices on some used ones. Nothing to write home about but better than being full of FUD.

FYE in Blasdel (Buffalo) NY has a HUGE selection of Blu-ray discs ... but at ridiculously high prices. HD selection was one-third the Blu-ray titles.
Why would anyone buy at these proces?

I don't see how FYE sells anything with their prices...their used BDs were more than most places sealed BDs.

My FYE will price match. And they give good store credit for used DVDs. Those two facts make it worth while. I bring in a stack of DVD's and walk away with a Blu Ray at Best Buy sale prices.

I know they aren't supposed too because what's the point of charging retail for everything if you're willing to match anyones price. But,.. I guess they figure what the hell one sale today is better then nothing.

huh? You don't even know how rare Sam Goody stores are (found). Most have went out of business. And many FYE's dont carry high-def yet, especially the "lower budget" stores.

Its kind of sad though i used to love going to suncoast in the early days of Dvd. You can go there and yak about movies and dvd and people knew what you where talking about. Its not the same at best buy and circuit city.

Yeah,

About the price matching.. I can't believe they do it.

First time I went there with a stack of DVDs that I no longer wanted I got about 40 Credit. So I picked up PotC on Blu at it was priced $39.99 or something. I was bummed about the price so I asked if they could match Best Buy's price and they were like "sure." Freaked me out.

Then on Black Friday one of the only things I wanted was Virtua Tennis for $20 at Gamestop. Turns out my Gamestop had no stock. FYE had this game still maked at $59.99 which I think was a mistake becuase retail on this game was always $49.99 but I asked if they would pricematch the GameStop ad (even though GS had no stock) and they did!

I'm always the only one in the store that doesn't work there so I think they'll do just about anything to practice working the register. I have to get back there and work some more magic before they are gone.
