4" is quite a bit to lose depending on your viewing distance and the room you have the screen in.
Unless you're in a great hurry, you might want to consider just waiting to get a 1080p at 50". |

Whenever I'm replacing a TV, I look to increase the size and improve the quality. If I can't do both, I just wait until I can afford it.

Yes, it's worth it! I had a 55" Philips rear projection 1080i TV and got a 50" Panasonic plasma last weekend (the one at Best Buy with the free BD30 player) and the difference in quality more than makes up for the picture size!

Same with me, I have a 720p 42" Pioneer Elite Plasma and the only thing I will ever replace it with is a 1080p 42"(or bigger) Pioneer Elite Plasma. I want to upgrade my TV, not trade quality or size for 1080p.

I have a 56" right now and I would have a hard time going any smaller ever again.
However, if there was a TV that had MUCH better quality for comperable price that was a 52", I would pick it up in a heart beat. Would I notice the size difference? Yes, but the PQ more than makes up for the lack of just a few inches... |

- BB has the no questions asked return policy till the 31st. i would pick it up today and spend the week in a side by side comparison. this is a question only you can answer. p.s. if you do it, post your observations in a future thread.

I did I similar swap from a 50" PL5060N HP plasma (i think a sammy inside) to a 52" Sammy LN-T5281F, thinking I would move the Plasma to the bedroom with the HD-DVD player for grown-up movies and keep the new sammy in the living room for the PS3 Blu-Rays and DishHD. Well, I have since moved the 16 month old 720P plasma back into the living room. It is just a more pleasant experience for watching TV to me. I guess it's black levels and color warmth, but the LCD just feels overly sharp and cold comapred to the plasma. Both my sets were properly calibrated.
So, I would tell you hold off. I went from 720p plasma to 1080P lcd and gained to inches in the process and wish I had not made the purchase. |

because some people said that your blu-ray will look very good into 1080p hdtv than 720p hdtv, and its a waste for blu-ray to just connect it to 720p.right now im satisfied with the PQ of my plasma with my blu-ray player but im still curious about how it will look to into 1080p hdtv.
