eOne transports the thriller home on Blu-ray next month, in both standard and DigiPack editions. No 4K release. Have emailed PR about audio specs as the US release has the theatrical 7.1 audio, but eOne have been known to cheat us in the past. Will update when known.

I was going to go and see this until I read they'd changed the original setting (of the book) from the UK to the US. Think I'll stick with the book.

Sainsbury's are advertising a bonus disc - but only for DVD I think from the poster I saw in store tonight.
Agggggh. Why do they do this? Everytime I go in, the BD chart slots have fewer stock per title then the DVD chart spaces, and sometimes even more empty slots. Why don't they seem to put any weight behind BD? |

It's because most Hollywood film DVDs these days have zero extras. These extras have already had the cost of BBFC certification paid for use on the BD. Making an extra DVD of this content costs peanuts and obviously helps sales. Replicating BD bonus disks using the additional content from the US retailer exclusives would cost a lot more money. |

It's the book that's praised and with some reason, its a highly enjoyable thriller. The film goes immediately wrong by moving the setting to America, while the actresses are all good, the actors are all absolutely dreadful and the director is a disaster as he takes the film from a confusing mess straight to blindingly obvious. The film companies thought they were on to an easy Gone Girl style money maker, but that film had David Fincher. My advice is rent first, especially if you liked the book.

Just got the DigiPack. As I said before, 5.1 audio only and according to the back of the packaging, missing the two featurettes from the US release and only retaining the deleted scenes and audio commentary. The artwork matches the exclusive slip and the back artwork is also different. The standard release has Emily running towards a train whereas the exclusive has her on the train.
Update: Sainsbury's exclusive has the missing features. |

If no one has, I'll try to get a pic on my lunch. It's a DVD-only exclusive, but it was £10. Never seen that artwork before, but it was essentially an exterior shot of Emily standing on the train.
