80gb PS3 Unbundled - Blu-ray Forum

If you are thinking of getting a PS3, 80gb version, its a good idea to get it now bc I just came from Best Buy and saw a stack of boxes of the system but unbundled without Motorstorm. I knew it would happen eventually but didnt know they were already out there and that they were phasing out the Limited Edition set.

I didnt have it scanned at the register, but it had the signs saying $499.99 next to them, although that could have just been for the Motostorm pack and not both. I think it is still that price bc if there was another price drop, we would have heard something

yeah i wouldn't expect a price drop. just hadn't heard anything about motorstorm not being bundled anymore. hmm

I think the unbundled 80 will come down in price around March...

I think it will be the same price.
Same thing with the 60GB and Talladega Nights.
Motorstorm is "Limited Edition"

Even though i wasn't aware there were 80gb unbundled units avaible if i were sony i'd very quietly release the unbundled version with 0 news because who wants news of a $50 drop 2 1/2 days before christmas -parents will most likely
just see the extra $50 they could've had despite not getting a game in the box.

I'm surprised motorstorm and resistance haven't gone greatest hits yet.
Adjusting to the new $59.99 greatest hits would roll in @ $29.99 and have sold
very well indeed. Missed opertunity on sony's part there's still 08 but by holiday
08 i'd also expect ratchet @ $29.99.

Bring on mgs4,gow3 and dmc4!!

i don't think we'll see another price drop before next holiday season (and depending on sales, maybe not even then). I would expect the 80gb to get bundled with a dualshock 3 and a new game (maybe drake or ratchet) once the dualshock is released in March and stay at $499.

A new bundle at that time would make it much easier for people to tell they are getting the dualshock controller.

Although the load time is long I still think the game is pretty fun and the opening cut scene still looks great on full HD. I've played that to some of my neighbors and they think its a blu ray movie instead of a game.
