Default Would you approve of movies not on Blu-Ray yet going straight to UHD 4K?

I wish it would happen. No Abyss or After Hours Blu Rays, just straight to 4K.

Thoughts?

Assuming that you're not trying to stroke your own ego merely because you have a UHD player and are so "cutting edge" [sic], I'll inform you that's an absolutely terrible idea as the market penetration for UHD is far too low to justify such a move. It's basically the equivalent of telling studios to jettison DVD back in 2008, which was also two years after BD launched.

4k will never be big enough for this to happen, they'll stop releasing discs completely first.

LOL, 4k will be like laserdisc. Only a select group of people will upgrade and buy them.

It's already surpassed Laserdisc. Besides in a few years you won't be able buy a 1080p TV below 40" IMHO. It will be relegated to strictly computer monitors and everything else will be 4K or higher. All most folks need at that point is a UHD player, which are getting cheaper by the day.

Yes, but would never happen. At least not for the next few years.

I've always bought 3d, 4k, and then bluray before upgrading my player and TV to ensure I was future proofing my media. Every 4K disk I have purchased has come with a bluray disc. I think it's required.
