Default Blu-ray advertisements

Last week my cable company added FoodNetworkHD to their lineup. Each night that I've watched, between 8 and 9 (East Coast time) there has been a BluRay add - not an "also available on BluRay" but a full BluRay add. Last week it was Disney pushing 3 BD titles. This week it is Panasonic touting their plasma/BD player bundles. Panasonic also runs a full page add each Tuesday in the NY Times pushing BluRay. Not that I've been looking for one, but I haven't seen any HD ads (anywhere) since that thing months ago with actor Imperioli.

however i did notice on Fox Sunday Football that they had the future is blu commercial with wedding crashers and when they did the lead in the voice ove rguy said it was sponsored by Blue ray....the future is blu. Which is huge, imo.

Yup, I see blu adds all the time during football games. Makes sense since your hardcore sportsfan is a likely early HDTV adopter.

I've also seen the 'Future is Blu' ad directly followed by an HD-DVD ad. The Blu-Ray ad was compelling and dynamic. My family cheered (they know the difference) and we watched it over a few times. The HD-DVD ad wasn't so much.

Any old-timers here? Back in the days when we were cheering the fledgling DVD on and its naysayers were saying it would be decades before it catches on if ever, we were left to sit back and patently wait for the inevitable tide to change. It did and DVD became the most rapidly adopted CE tech ever.

I think these ads are part of the new tide change towards Blu-Ray.

I remember in July of 1997 when I was in an electronics store, a big one mind you and was nervously checking out a DVD player. Nervously because I was a big LD supporter and here was this thing that people said was going to make LDs obsolete. I remember standing there and one of the salesmen walked by and said "DVD, pfft... That will never take off."

Watching the Lakers - Cavs game on TBS last night, I was pleasantly surprised to see so many Hi Def/Equipment commercials on. There were ads for The Simpsons Movie (Blu) and The Kingdom (HD). But, ironically, neither commercial emphasized with the voiceover that either movie was in Hi Def. Sure, they had the Blu-ray logo on The Simpsons Movie ad, and the case in the forground was the HD version of The Kingdom.

There was the PS3 ad; but, of course, it's the one that doesn't really emphasize that the machine is a Blu-ray player.

But, magnificently, there was the BDA ad itself, leaving no doubt what it was about and who supports Blu-ray. It was stunning, to say the least. Anybody got a link to a youtube repro of it? I'd like to see it again, even if I won't be watching it on my HDTV.

So, while an NBA game at this point in the season is still a rather niche market, Hi Def was on the forefront of advertising during the approximate 2 1/2 hours the game was on.

That's an awesome add, absolutely bonzer. Wish we got ads like that here. We don't get ads half as good as that in Australia, come to think of it we don't get many Blu-ray ads at all (if any). Sucks really.

This is the ad I was looking for online! I saw it a couple of weeks ago during a football game and couldn't find it. I wish Sony would make an HD version available for download.

Apparantly there is a "Goofy" short playing before National Treasure 2, that has Goofy putting together a home theater system. The narrator tells him "Don't forget the Blu-ray!"

Yes, but it is "snuck" in there nicely, he goes through all of the stuff he needs, and mentions all these players, and if you listen closely you can hear him say "a Blu-ray player", but you have to be listening closely. It's funny too, they have a skit of Goofy about to watch the big football game on his new TV, and the colors of the teams, Red vs. Blue... hehehe.
