Memoirs of an Invisible Man Blu-ray

Who here owns the german blu and is it any good?

I've got it. It's decent. AVC, good picture but a little on the soft side. DTS-HD MA 2.0. Not region free.

Since we're not likely to see a great release of this film any time soon, I think it's worth it if you can play Region B discs.

Yeah, Agree. Totally serviceable transfer and audio. Typical of most 90's catalogue transfers.

Can't see it getting any better soon!...

The English audio track is in mono. The subs are removable, the transfer is good, but the audio is most definitely "flat" and it's a stereo film.

I ended up importing the Japanese release instead which has the proper English stereo audio and is Region A encoded. Funny thing is that the transfers, visually, appear to be identical -- but the English audio is clearly screwed up on the German release.

Thanks for the info, I don't think I need this movie enough to justify buying the Japanese release when considering it will probably cost double what the German release is!

The Japanese isn't too bad at $31 from Yesasia. There's also an Italian edition but that's 1080i

I really don't understand why they can't release American films in America as well.

This is my favorite Invisible Man film.

ILM effects. Chevy Chase and Darryl Hannah.

The Japanese release only cost me $17 to import from Amazon JP. The only hitch is it didn't include s/h, which is obviously very high. I ordered several other things to at least make it somewhat more reasonable (there's a Blu-Ray of Megaforce over there, lol).

That's a pretty big hitch when the shipping cost MORE than the movie! lol

But you are right, if ordering more than 1 title, this wouldn't be too bad (still about $10 more than the German release though).

True, but IMO the sound is worth $10 if you're going to the trouble of importing it in the first place. The German disc has a nice picture but sounds like you're at a drive-in theater. lol. Japanese disc also has a few extras not on the German release (from the US DVD I believe).

I wasn't going to buy it because the Amazon JP shipping is so high but I had a few other titles I was interested in. While the shipping is expensive, it IS fast -- got it within 4 days of placing the order.

I'm trying to score the best Blu-ray of this that's currently available. I read a translated review on Amazon.it that says that the Italian Blu is actually 1080p and that the back cover is incorrect in stating 1080i. Can anyone who has this confirm one way or the other?
