Anyone else notice that this one seems to be only in HDR on disc? All the streaming sites only have the 4k version in SDR.

Hell, they already cast him as the voice of Garfield in an upcoming animated feature. I still don't know how I feel about that...

So, this is 4k SDR that's probably been upscaled from a 2k DI?

I already have the blu-ray with a slip (Which this is also missing). I'm usually religious about upgrading my stuff, but I don't know... This one may take me awhile.

Good on Lionsgate for putting what's available digitally on disc, though. If only Warner could put out a UHD of Sucker Punch (2011), Criterion could put out a UHD of The Irishman (2019), and so on...

MOD releases don't come with slipcovers. Lionsgate has been doing this since Fatale I think. They also don't come with regular Blu-rays.

I didn't realize this was a MOD release. That explains a lot in terms of the delayed delivery.

I watched this tonight. It was the first time I've seen The Kid. I really enjoyed the movie, which is the most important part; but there are some serious compression issues on this disc that result in macroblocking in the darker scenes that make this release impossible to recommend sadly. I haven't seen awful compression and macroblocking on a 4K UHD this bad since the original German Texas Chainsaw Massacre release.

I will be waiting for forum feedback before buying any more Lionsgate MOD releases.

The packaging clearly states that this one is 4k and HDR but it will only play in 4k SDR so I'm sending mine back. False advertising. I'm wondering if I should contact Lionsgate?

Supposedly, the only MOD Lionsgate UHD with HDR is Primal (2019).

It'd be interesting to see the package. On The Kid, it advertises HDR, but that seems to be advertising the UHD format rather than the disc itself. It also advertises an audio upgrade which The Kid also lacks. The disc specs seem to leave out HDR, so it'd be interesting if Primal has the HDR logo on the front and/or listed in the specs.

The Kid is 4k SDR on digital, so that makes sense, but Gamer (2009) has DV on digital so why doesn't the disc?
