Ah Hollywood. If at first you succeed. Remake, re-use and recycle.

Didn't Warner Brothers already attempt this 'revamp' in 2007 when they released The Brave One starring Jodie Foster?

And released it against Death Sentence which was based on the sequel novel to Death Wish.

Death Sentence was a good B movie. Kevin Bacon having one bad day after his family gets murdered and goes vengeful killer is an idea in a sentence. I didn't get as much draw from The Brave One.

What worries me here is Eli Roth is directing it. You know he's going to work in some glorious murder-porn, and combine it with a bittersweet ending, more bitter than sweet. I think Bruce is a good choice for it, especially if he accepted the role in some desire to do it, but would have been so much better with someone like...Bryan Cranston. Him and Vincent D'onofrio would have been a wicked pairing for this.

What the hell is "murder-porn"? There is just "murder", not "murder-porn".

Death Sentence is a terrific exploitation style flick with solid performances from Bacon, John Goodman, and an unrecognizable Garret Hedlund. And STILL no blu.

Bruce Willis being attached to this makes me groan. He's over the days of trying to perform and just cashing checks. I pray he drops out.

Came here to say this. The Brave One and Death Sentence already did it.

Yeah, it's not Eli Roth directing that worries me, it's Bruce starring in it. Kinda has an influence on the dynamic of the film IMHO.

One CAN'T make a good movie and the other doesn't CARE if he does as long as the pay cheque has enough zeros.

I predict an epic fail.

I'm not saying this is automatically gonna be great...

Eli Roth doing a Death Wish remake with Bruce Willis?

This sounds so out there, it might actually work if it goes into the utter gutter fun territory of the goofier sequels.

Just have Willis mow random thugs away and we're good.

Personally, I don't want that. I want to see a gritty urban vigilante drama/thriller with graphic violence and to see Bruce Willis actually ACTING.

I'm expecting however a silly, throwaway action film with little emotional heft and Bruce being Bruce and just blowing away tens of bad guys with perhaps a one liner or two thrown in for good measure.

For some reason I envisioned a "Deathwish" remake with the main character becoming a vampire vigilante (when I first read the post) I don't know why but that just popped in my head.

To me, "murder porn" is basically high body count horror movies.

Isn't Eli Roth more known for torture porn though? That's quite different from just murders.

LOL. Now that you mention it, I would pay money for a sleazy vigilante movie with Count Dracula filling in the Paul Kersey role. Red cape and all.
