IFC Films and Shout Factory will release on Blu-ray director Éric Hannezo's crime thriller Rabid Dogs (2015), starring Lambert Wilson, Virginie Ledoyen, Guillaume Gouix, François Arnaud, Lauren Lucas, and Gabrielle Lazure. The release will be available for purchase on June 14.
Rabid Dogs had its world premiere at last year's edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
Synopsis: After their armed bank robbery goes haywire, three criminals take their hostages—a young woman (Virginie Ledoyen), a father (Lambert Wilson), and his sick daughter—on a berserk, blood-spattered road trip. Determined to reach the border, the gang embarks on a long night's journey into surreal ultra-violence, as both their desperation and the body count moounts. Based on Italian giallo maestro Mario Bava's twisted '70s shocker, Rabid Dogs at once pays homage to the dark heart of the original, while updating it with a sleekly modern stylishness.
NOTE: In the United States, Mario Bava's film is already available on Blu-ray courtesy of local distributors Kino Lober. (This version of the film, however, is edited and features additional footage added by producer Alfredo Leone). You can see our listing and review of this release here.
