Default Just Left Walmart

Sold out of Blu-Ray players....

Plenty of HD-DVD players in stock!

The movie rack reflected that too.

Let's just hope that the lack of Blu-ray player stock doesn't cause people to consider HD DVD instead.

I wouldn't be suprised if Blu-ray standalones are now outselling HD-DVD players.

It was a madhouse in there. I went to get a couple items, I always somehow end up in the electronics though.

I think the only people buying HD-DVD are the ones not researching the fromats before hand. I know when I made my decision it was based on research. Most next generation purchasers are hopefully doing the same.

At my local Walmart in Toronto, the Hi Def section is a mess.
All the movies are placed on a four sided display.
3 out of the four sides were Blu Ray and only 1 side was Red.
It should be noted that the 1 Red Side was blocked in and no one older than 8 years old is small enough to fit in the area to look at the movies.

It's not a big deal however, as the Walmart there doesn't give a damn about Hi Def as movies were disheveled and all the movies were in the top shelves.

Bottom line however Blu Ray 3, Red 1.

Our local Sams Club only has about 4 or 5 BDP-S301's left and as best I can tell, have only sold 1 HD D3, the only DUD player they sell. They don't have or carry any HD DVD movies but they do have plenty of BD movies.

I really think that Blu-ray players have become one of the HOT items this year.

My sister works in the electronics/media section at Target, and she said the PS3s are flying out of there as quick as the Wiis. And she said the PS3s are leaving the store with games and Blu movies.

I'm not really that surprised since the price of the Standalone player has plumeted this past week. I picked up my S-301 player at Bjs a month ago when they drop the price to $279 (The price went up to $379) and this week they have it for $279 again and the rack was empty again like the firs previous price drop. Poeple are willing to buy it if the price is low enough. I hope they let poeple take a raincheck if they're all sold out. This will add more players sale.
I'm dying to know what the sale number is when the holiday is over.

Blu has been leading in disc sales all year long. It will be very interesting to see sales results after the holidays. If hddvd sales pick up drastically, I wonder what it will do to Warner's impending 'One format' announcement.

And why are HD DVD sales going to pick up drastically vs Blu-Ray? There will be as many if not more players (including PS3's in the mix) under the tree this year on the Blu side too. Last year, there was the precedent of a BD sales spike after the Holidays. HD DVD was around then, and cheaper then. Didn't help then, won't help now either.

From my observations, we worry to much....

It is hard not too, but we have lead the pack every week in software. As far as in home players, we have them smoked. I think Standalones are getting close too.

My b/f's BB received Friday had 185 Sony 300, 8 Sony 500, 20 Panasonic 30, 85 Samsung 1400 15 Sharps and 5 Pioneer 95. As of tonight closing the numbers where as followed.

Sony 300- 43
Sony 500 - 4
Panasonic 30 - 3
Samsung 1400 - 7
Sharp - 11
Pioneer 95 - 3

For a grand total of 224 players sold. Of course there is tomorrow but the best part is that only 9 hd dvd where sold. I guess Miami has already gone blu!!

It was so funny when the GM today asked my b/f where he had put the Blu-Ray players and my b/f told them they're sold. His response was no shit we sold that many in a week. We better do a mass display once Christmas is over.

Oh, Im not worried. My concern lies with the consumers either tricked into purchasing hddvd players or just too lazy to do the research first. Im confident in my Blu-ray investment, Im just thinking of everyone who purchased hddvd products blindly without knowing the truth.

Besides, if SG is behind us how could we lose, right?
