Default BD player poll

i will be buying a player this week and wanted to get some opinions. i know alot of you are big PS3 fans, but that is not an option for me sorry. i prefer a standalone for now.

its a toss up with me on price vs. quality. also i am not in a big rush to update my receiver for the audio. really want the best PQ though. thanks

You really didn't read what he said did you...

Anywho. The Panasonic 30 is the way to go as far as standalones right now. My brother has it and a S300 and I got to test drive both and the Panny blows the s300 out of the water.

The PS3 is a standalone. It just has the ability to do more than the units on your list. There is a good reason why most reviewers use the PS3. It is the best out there for media reproduction. It's not just for games.

And what we are telling you is that you should want one, because it is one of the best Blu-ray players, in fact one of the best anythings out there. Don't waste money on a player that really only does one thing. Get the best thing there is, and so much more. You won't be disappointed. If you don't, a year from now you wish you would have. Anyway, that is my advice, take it or leave, its your money.

I bought the Panasonic BD-30 just last week (replacing a Sony S1). So far I really enjoy this player because it seems very fast (compared to the S1) and it can stream all the lossless audio codecs to a receiver that can decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS MA. My Home Theater experience has really improved since the upgrade.

The only thing I am missing is the Bitrate display. I like to check new movies to determine the max bitrate. The Panasonic might have this function but I can't figure out how to enable it if it does have it.
