Arrow Bored to Death

Check out the trailer to the new HBO series:

Quote:
HBO has premiered a full trailer for the new television series Bored to Death, which is being billed as “A Noir-otic Comedy”. Jason Schwartzman stars as Jonathan Ames (well, not the real Jonathan Ames, although he is a writer on the show), an alcoholic noir-fiction-obsessed writer who impulsively decides to become an unlicensed private detective. The show also features Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) as Ames’ best friend Ray, a comic book writer, who along with Ames’ editor (played by Ted Danson), winds up tagging along for a few detective cases. Seems like a great concept for a television show.

The trailer also features guest appearances from John Hodgman (Daily Show, Mac ads), Patton Oswalt, Kirsten Wiig, Parker Posey, Bebe Neuwirth, Oliver Platt and while I didn’t notice her in the trailer, IMDb also lists the wonderful Olivia Thirlby. And if you’re not sold yet… Paul Feig, of Freaks and Geeks, The Office and Arrested Development fame, directs a couple episodes.

Bored to Death premieres on HBO on September 20th at 9:30pm.

Saw the trailer and it looks decent, a lot of good actors will be on the show. The only movie I liked Jason Schwartzman in was Rushmore and I don't know how much I could like a show where he's the lead. Like all HBO shows I will give it a chance.

The trailer had a great part where Ted Danson says he is on "Marijuana minutes."

I'll check it out but won't set my hopes too high. I'm more excited about Curb Your Enthusiasm coming back.

Pretty funny show. Not great but Ted Danson was good. Jason wasn't bad either. We'll see how future episodes play out.

I think this show will improve. The first episode had enough to keep me watching.

I was not overly impressed. As someone who's not a big Jason S. fan, nor even a Ted Danson fan, the only chance this show had to grab me was some solid writing.

It couldn't keep my attention for even 1/2 of the 30 minute episode.

Season 2 Trailer
Quote:
HBO has released a brief trailer for the second season of the Jason Schwartzman comedy series Bored To Death. The high concept comedy about a struggling writer’s second life as an unlicensed detective. The new season of Bored To Death is set to debut this September on HBO.

Bored To Death was one of my favorite shows to watch last year and I can’t wait for the new season. The trailer mixes dry humor with a noir-style presentation. We get to see Jason Schwartzman’s Woody Allen inspired character, Jonathan Ames (named for the show’s creator), acting as nervous and in over his head as ever. We also get a look at what I believe was the biggest strength of the first season: the supporting cast. Ted Danson looks as funny as ever as Ames’ eccentric friend and boss, George Christopher. We also see Zach Galifianakis as Ray, Ames’ best friend and the main voice of reason for Ames and Christopher. In the aftermath of The Hangover one would expect the show to lean heavily on Galifianakis, but the show balances these three main characters very well and never seems to rely too much on Galifianakis (or Danson) for a big laugh. Needless to say, I have high hopes for the show’s sophomore season.

I only watched one episode, or part of an episode because my sister put it on. Couldn't really say whether or not I liked it, but I may pick it up when it comes out if it's not too expensive. Hopefully it won't be since there aren't many episodes

The amount of episodes don't matter the first season of Breaking Bad had 7 episodes and costs about $30. The price on this first season is at $35 upon release. Just netflix it or I'm sure they will have repeats next month. HBO is usually really great about that.

Yeah I know, at least it was worth it when I bought it. I'll probably just do that but I'm really bad with not watching the BD's I get from them and sit around for a long time. We'll see. Maybe I'll find it on Amazon Marketplace or eBay cheap, eventually.

Been re-watching the first season, forgot how quirky this show is, but fun.

This show really took off when all 3 leads were together, finally. Think it was episode 6. I don't know why they waited to get all of them together, as the show was a lot better because of it. Hopefully they keep that up in S2.

I love the dud from Hangover , I loved that ep where he was in the coffee shop and said "sorry I'm a starving artist" and the girl was like "you don't look starved to me"

Galifinakis is the man, he was awesome on the show. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot more people tune in after discovering him in Hangover last year. The first season had already ended by the time the movie premiered.

That's not true. The movie came out in June 09. The show started in September.
