Default First HDTV

I just got the OK from parents to get a plasma TV for christmas and I need some help picking one out. I am considering the panasonic TH-42PX75U or the Samsung 5054. I want to get a blu ray player also.

Default thank you

Thank you so much for all of your help, I can't wait to get it tomorrow. I just have two more questions about blu ray. Which player should I get and what movies have the best picture Quality?

PS3 or Panny BD30

I have a Sony S300 which is good for the money, but no profile 1.1 and no HD sound. (besides PCM)

Any Disney movie.

I'm guessing you are young and are very likely to be gaming on this HDTV. If so I would stay away from plasma due to the burn in that can happen with still images such as health bars on the corners of your screen and such.

I concur! LCD will be a bit more expensive, but is also better in numerous ways in the event of any repairs needed. And, I'd recommend the PS3 as a Blu-ray player. Not only do you get the fastest loading Hi-Def player that is continuously updateable and reliable, you also get a wireless internet connection unit, a gaming console, a CD player, gorgeous Photo slideshow system, a Media Centre hub (means you can wirelessly connect to all of the audio, video, picture files on any home computer in the house connected to the network), FREE ONLINE GAMING (a big one these days), and the list just goes on and on...

Agreed on everything said. 1080P LCDs are a fair price and you can't beat a PS3.
