I just wanted to share a questionable experience I'm having with FYE.com and am wondering if others here have run into the same problem:
I placed an order last week during FYE's Buy 2, Get 1 for $1 promotion. I picked up 3 Criterion titles, all selling for the same price, used. I had not gotten any notification on it until the last day, when I got an order update email with the status of each item in my order. Two show as shipped, and the third shows as cancelled. Guess which one was cancelled? You guessed it, the $1 title! So, if they did, in fact, cancel the $1 title in this promo and I only receive the two that I paid (full price) for, I really have nothing to show for the promotion that I purchased them under. I essentially overpaid for what I did get, and likely would have not made a purchase were it not for that promo. For what it's worth, other than that order update I have not received any communication about the cancelled item, and the card used shows two pending charges, one for the original order amount, and the second for an amount $1.07 less (the $1 item plus tax, presumably). While I find this annoying (feels a little like a bait and switch), I'm willing to be reasonable about this. I intend to call in and find out what options I have. If they're willing to apply the promotion or make some proportional concession on the price of the full price items, I may accept it. If not, it's clearly too late to cancel the order, but perhaps I can refuse delivery. If nothing else I suppose I can dispute the charge on the card used for the order. To anyone else who has had this issue with FYE, how did you handle it? Did FYE expect you to eat the cost of the order, with no promotional value whatsoever? |
