Supposedly someone mentioned it will still be cut though in the 88 Films thread.........so it might still be cut

I'd imagine it would be. Though I still find the '12' certificate (if true) a surprise, back in the day it was rated 18!

It being an 18 does feel odd...Drunken Master was a 15, but I'd argue that was more violent.

Can't find it on Youtube, but the HKL trailer for SITES was scored with what I can only call calypso-rap-pop!

It’s great that 88 films are releasing this. I wouldn’t be surprised if they included the uncut and edited version. I have the German blu ray which is great. Awesome picture quality and sound on that release and multiple audio. It’s a Seasonal film so maybe we can get more from that studio soon? Looking forward to seeing what extras will be included on this.

British law is the reason for the cuts, not censor or distributor squeamishness.

This isn't from Seasonal per se, it's a Sony license, as was Eureka's Drunken Master release.

I think any other Seasonal releases would require 88 or whoever to go to Seasonal, but I don't think Seasonal has done HD transfers of its titles yet.

Will be getting this predominately for the Special Features only (so hope they're good!) as the GERMAN release is perfect. It even has a bonus alternate English dub (with less litigious music)

I just stuck it on to watch the 'snake vs cat' fight and having only ever seen this (multiple times) on the cut (MiHK) VHS the most jarring thing about it is the snake's stunt double(?!) who's visible in a handful of shots. (See bottom right corner)



I certainly never noticed this before, although I suspect this was due to cropping on the old VHS (that was closer to 16:9 than 2:35:1).

Normally I’d ask why even bother pouring resources in a movie you know you legally can’t release uncut, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this release is the result of package deal shenanigans. Didn’t Eureka pass on it for that exact reason?

A few vintage films are cut for horse falls, such as Fistful of Dynamite, animal cruelty laws. I think this is silly for older films but to be honest the cat and snake scene is distressing to watch and I won't miss it.

If the film were violent and dark, I wouldn't mind it so much. But overall it's a rather goofy and child-friendly movie, so...yeah, it's distressing.

As it was cut on the HKL DVD, the cat swipes at the camera, the snake wobbles...cut to snake on floor. Job done!

They've been cut since the law was passed by public demand in 1937, so it's not as if the BBFC is suddenly going back and cutting old movies. In reality they've actually restored some cuts of horse stunts over the past decade or so when the filmmakers have been able to prove that no tripwires, trenches or other dangerous techniques were used (Glory and The Wind and the Lion being two notable examples).
