Frank Henenlotter's THE TRIAL OF MIKE DIANA (2017) -- Kickstarter (Ends 11/17/16)

The inimitable Frank Henenlotter​ is back with a new documentary, and needs your help! Alongside producers Anthony Sneed​ and Mike Hunchback​, Frank's been working on The Trial of Mike Diana​ (2017), a look at the horrifying miscarriage of justice that allowed a then-23-year-old Diana to be arrested, prosecuted and convicted -- for simply drawing a comic book! The case is examined through a thorough mix of news footage and modern interviews, with experts and artists like Neil Gaiman​ and Stephen Bissette​ to those who were there, including both the defending and prosecuting attorneys, protesters, and Mike Diana​ himself. I had a chance to talk with Henenlotter & Hunchback a little while back about their film, and it sounds absolutely killer -- not only challenging the age-old art vs. obscenity arguments, but the outlandish attack on free speech itself. And, knowing this crew, it'll be entertaining as hell.
