I'm a bit undecided on this one. Is this closer to a Giallo or an Italian crime movie?

Transfer on this is immaculate! Raro have done a stunning job - not a trace of any of the problems that plagued NIGHTMARE CITY; no DNR issues, no grain issues, it looks superb!
As for the film itself, I would struggle to call this a giallo, there are very few of the genre tropes made famous by Argento et al. This struck me to be very much a straight down the line poliziotteschi. It has violence as well as moments of levity but the central theme of slavery/prostitution rackets is quite dark and the heartbroken dad at the centre of it plays the role superbly. Without giving too much away the end of the film called to mind Lado's NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS. The two cops reminded me of Thaw and Waterman in the 70s UK TV series THE SWEENEY ![]() |
