Hello all!
I'm considering adding a new Region A Blu-Ray player to my setup, and I'm hearing good things about the Pioneer BDP-180. Since Amazon won't ship electronics like this to my Country, I can get this player from Hong Kong (Play-Asia) which is also Region A (the DVD region doesn't matter). I have a question though... Regardless of region, are Blu-Ray players in HK like EU players, in that they support both 50 and 60hz, or are they like the NA players (mostly only 60hz)? As far as I'm aware, HK DVDs are NTSC, but I'm also reading that the PAL standard is also used there (TV broadcasts?). The spec sheet for the Pioneer BDP-180 on the HK site has no mention of either NTSC or PAL as far as I can see, but it has 110-240 50/60hz power in there. So will a Region free 50hz BD play in this player, like it would in a European player? Last edited by Prim; 11-28-2016 at 06:30 PM. Reason: added link |
