Default Code 8 (Stephen and Robbie Amell Sci-Fi Project)

Quote:
Last weekend, Stephen Amell and his cousin Robbie posted a teaser video for Code 8, a mysterious sci-fi short film they hope to eventually expand into a feature film. While the countdown is officially over and you can watch the 10-minute project online, the duo has also launched an Indiegogo page to gain funding for the feature.

The short is described as “a proof of concept for a feature film version to be filmed later this year.” Robbie plays a man with special abilities in a world where police, backed by robotic enforcers, constantly clash with people with power. Robbie’s character becomes such a man after a clash with his employer attracts some unwanted attention.

While Stephen couldn’t film a part in Code 8 because of his schedule playing Oliver Queen in Arrow and Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, he executive produced the film and plans on filming a role for the feature. Jeff Chan directed the short, while the cast also includes Sung Kang (Fast & Furious 6), Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Chad Donella (Scandal), and Alfred Rubin Thompson (Club Dead).

Stephen and Robbie have been trying to work together on something outside of the Arrow/The Flash universe for awhile. Prior to the Code 8 reveal, the two said, “we’ve been putting this together since August with a bunch of friends and family, and calling in favors.” Now they need a favor from you. In launching the Code 8 Indiegogo page, the Amells are seeking donations to support their dream of making this into a feature film. As is the norm with this type of online fundraiser, the more money you put in, the more prizes you become eligible to obtain. Examples include attending the film’s premiere; being an extra in Code 8, which the pair aim to shoot later this year; and tees and sweatshirt swag.

A statement posted to the Indiegogo page reads:
The short film is just an introduction to this world. We want to delve deeper! But, we hate spoilers, so we won’t say too much about the story. We can say this: this movie will be intense, it will feel real, and you will see a side of Robbie and Stephen that you haven’t seen before. Oh, and there will be robots, superpowers, and a ton of badass action.

Really enjoyed the 10 minute short. So far they have $163,000 of the needed $200,000. I would love to see this made into a feature film.

Looks like they've raised another $100,000 in 2 days.

The best short Sci-Fi film I've ever seen. So glad that this is being made into a feature:

Trailers spoil movies.

Robots vs Super Powers is all I need to know.

This will never get to a cinema in Ireland and is the reason Netlix and iTunes are necessary.

Default Code 8 (2019)

Found nothing on this site about this movie as far as discussion and just got done watching it(Netflix). Gotta say I was very surprised at how good this movie was. A good comparison would be "Chronicle" meets "Upgrade".

Awesome flick. Decent CGI effects and interesting background. Need more movies to give us a full and detailed storyline but the movie is pretty solid.
