Universal Studios A Monster Calls (2016) Never in 3D

So does anyone know why A Monster Calls did not open in theaters in 3D. It was advertised as a 3D release and I saw several 3D trailers for it including right before it opened. It looked really good in 3D. I am guessing they pulled back on the 3D release, but can find no discussion about this.

It was never in 3D. Perhaps you're thinking of Pete's Dragon or The BFG.

It was advertised as a 3D release and I did see the actual 3D trailers several times.

I'm curious why there was a Dolby Atmos denotion on the end credits, but as far as I know this was not released as such ... even in 7.1 it's a remarkable aggressive mix.

Yeah, this was not a 3D movie. Ever. It's not released that way.
