Great film!!! Def buying day 1 on blu ray.

Because I was actually there on Boylston Street in Boston that day (between the blasts but far enough from each to be unharmed) I got an opportunity to be an extra in the movie.

I could see myself in one scene. I'll definitely be grabbing day one and going frame by frame.

As a marathon runner who has several friends that were around the finish area at the time of the bombings, I was unsure about whether or not I wanted to see this movie, but I still made a spur-of-the-moment decision to see it at the theater this past weekend. Thankfully, this police procedural drama delivers intense storytelling without being exploitative. Director Peter Berg mixes frantic cinematography with news footage in a way that lends a documentary feel to this film, while a superb cast of characters, including John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Jimmy O. Yang, Kevin Bacon, Alex Wolff, Themo Melikidze, and Melissa Benoist, portray the actual people involved in the events of those terrifying days. I did not care as much for Marc Wahlberg's fictional police character who plays a hand in every pivotal moment, from the finish line area of the race to the final arrest at the boat, and I did not care for the Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross music score that telegraphed additional menace when the Tsarnaev brothers were onscreen, but every other aspect of this film rises above these two grievances. More than anything, Patriots Day sheds light on the effectiveness of the first responders at the bombing scene, and on the resilience of the incredible people who braved painful recoveries in the year that followed. I would love to travel up to Boston to run this race someday and experience the greatness of that city.

I am definitely getting this day one, but apparently not from Amazon.

$39.99 for the blu ray? Are they serious?

My guess is many other places will have it for half that price when it's actually released.

Very solid and good film might grab this on 4K most likely but that shootout scene in the street/alleyway was pretty intense well directed and acted just overall very good stuff.

Anyway, this was a fantastic tribute to the city and the events that happened on that day. I'm not sure if I'll buy the blu or not, but I'm more than willing to watch it again if the chance arises.

Anyone have an idea what kind of soundtrack this going to get? It was in 7.1 but not Atmos, which leads me to believe it might be DTS:X release instead.

I was rather excited for that, hearing it compared to a Michael Mann shootout, and it definitely delivered. Very intense.

Looks OK to me. The shoelaces poster would make a nice Steelbook, if there is one.

The cover is decent but the shoelaces poster is still the go to poster.
