Synopsis

In this nail-biting international thriller, a couple (Owen Wilson and Lake Bell) and their two daughters relocate to Asia, only to find themselves caught in the middle of a dangerous coup. Realizing that foreigners are being murdered on the spot, they make a desperate decision to escape the violence on the streets and seek refuge at the American Embassy, all while trying to avoid detection by the merciless rebels. It's kind of fun if you think of it as a retired 007 having to help a family survive being killed by rebels.

Nice before Christmas. I really liked this movie Owen Wilson was actually awesome in this movie and pierce brosnan was great as well even though iphes not in the movie as much.

I can't believe this movie is getting so little attention or respect. Just released TODAY, trust me guys....if you like ACTION-PACKED, Edge-of-your-Seat Suspense, and Nail-Bitting Thrillers....you need to see this film.

This movie is very intense and moving. I hope more people grab this one.

Well here you go.

It was a very good film. It'll keep you hanging on at all times. I have two daughters about the age of the two in the movie. A lot of the things they said and did were exactly what I would expect from my two. I also think it was fairly believable. A mother and father will do some unexpected stuff to protect their family. All of the acting is well done. Nothing to complain about. I would highly recommend it to anybody. My wife was very engaged in the movie and had a lot of GASPS at certain moments. Go see it!

Can't they even come up with original movie titles anymore? I'd kill for a blu-ray release of the other No Escape from the 90s with Ray Liotta. Goddamn HBO seems dead set on never releasing any of their movies on blu though.

"Redboxed" this over the weekend. I found it to be very much entertaining.

I have seen far worse with better reviews. Worth a rent the next time one of those freebie codes pops up again.

I picked up this Starz/Anchor Bay Blu-ray of No Escape for seven dollars at a used Blu-ray store recently, after having heard good things about the movie, and I finally watched it last night.

No Escape is pretty good! It's a fast-paced movie that benefits from focusing on Owen Wilson and his family to observe how the family interacts with one another during times of extreme peril. The previews make it seem as though Pierce Brosnan's character is some sort of invincible Rambo type who protects the family, but the movie plays things out with that character in a different way that pleasantly surprised me.

I don't really pay mind to the accusations that this is a xenophobic or racist movie that does not acknowledge the peril of the actual residents of the country. The fact that it tells a simple tale of a family working together to avoid danger makes it a universally relatable concept.

The Blu-ray looks and sounds great.

Since the whole movie takes place within the first 48 hours, at the most, after the coup starts, I did not have trouble buying the story as such. Military intervention would surely be involved, but maybe not during that first day or so.
