Default A question for all the early PS3 buyers

Heres a question to all the people who bought one of the first PS3s available in the US: Do you still have the Talladega Nights blu-ray or is it worth it to buy the real blu-ray release of the movie?

Last edited by Tanman19az; 12-28-2007 at 07:57 AM. Reason: early was spelled wrong

don't bother with it in high def. i own it on dvd, but also rented the separate release version and it wasn't an improvement to warrant a purchase. kind of like superbad's difference. it is there, but u don't notice it. i know the one that came with the ps3 is considered to be worse than that one, so take this for what its worth

I actually bought it in a store (it was the version that came with the PS3) funny thing is on the back cover it says "For promotional use only. Not for rent or sale." it's pretty good in my opinion, I heard the actual Blu-ray of this movie has bonus material that this one doesn't... ultimately it comes to did you like the movie? it's really your choice, but I'm happy with my purchase

If you are considering a purchase of 'Talladega Nights' on any format whatsoever, I'd recommend just getting the DVD. The Blu-ray doesn't offer much clarity over the upscaled DVD. Remember that this title was probably one of the first the was replicated on the format. And some of releases from that first 3 months were REALLY bad transfers. This, in my opinion, was one of them.

its true you won't see a huge difference , but if you got the cash why not lash out and grab it on blu ray.

I had bought the retail version at CC and it said promo, not for resale, so I emailed Sony and they sent me a replacement, I had to send the other one back of course but they sent a prepaid label and everything.

The PS3 version doesn't have uncompressed PCM, if that matters to you. That's the biggest difference.

I bought the retail version of Talladega Nights. I personally love the movie and thought it was worth it. The PQ isn't reference quality at all, but it's still better than the DVD. The movie can be found fairly cheap these days also.

The one that came with the PS3 is the theatrical cut. The retail version is the unrated version.

I personally like the version in the theater better than the unrated version, but it is nice to own both if you are a big fan of the movie.

The PS3 version has no extras, and the retail/unrated version has a lot of extras so that is something to consider as well.

I consider the pack in to be a gift direct from Sony.

Since I opened my Ps3 on the 25th last year,... I consider it a X-mass gift along with GTHD.

It was also my first Blu Ray. And I don't hate the film. I don't care if an upsampled DVD would look "almost" as good. I'll never watch a DVD version since I have the Blu Ray. I've yet to see a Blu Ray that is worse then the DVD,.. even the infamous House of Flying Daggers.

The only way to get the theatrical cut is with the Ps3 pack in.

I'm glad to have it.

yup, there may be times when the BD is bad enough that you can't distinguish any diff between it and the upscaled DVD, but BD'd never look worse than SD DVD.

i rented the unrated cut first on netflix then picked it as one of the buy 2 get 1 free mail in deal from Sony.

Don't care for the film one bit, so I've obviously just kept what came with my ps3.
