Or alternatively, a hasily-thrown together hodgepodge of double dips. A way to own What's Opera, Doc? for the twentieth time.

This should be exciting, but classic cartoon fans have been burned by Warner plenty before.

And one disk so 20 to 25 with probably at least 15 double dips

But I want to be optimistic but WB doesn’t really care about classic Looney Tunes anymore sadly

The difference is that the Platinum Collections have been OOP for a while and is going for high prices second hand so I think we should be celebrating the fact that these shorts will be in print on Blu-ray yet again

Yeah I know it would be disappointing to some, but personally there's quite a few really great shorts on the first volume that I would like to own on a HD format and would be happy if they're included in here.

Though preferably, I would want WA to just put the first two volume back in print (like with T&J Golden Collection) and have this one be entirely shorts that haven't been included on a previous LT collection on Blu.

I have volumes 1 and 3 but missed 2. Hopefully this has either new stuff or a lot of the volume 2 stuff or I'm skipping it.

This looks extra cynical considering they just yanked most of the big classics from Hbo Max. I dunno what the hell they're doing over there.

They could just as easily reprint the Platinum Collections, like they did the Tom and Jerry Golden Collection and King Kong. So, that would make this an utterly stupid, pointless waste of a release.

And double dips on a set called "Collector's Choice"? Collectors are the ones who already own all the Platinum Collections.

I even got the big box edition of Volume One which came with the shot glass or whatever it was (#2927/36000).

My two wishes:
1. A decent selection of "new to blu" cartoons, but I do realize that there will inevitably be some double/triple/quadruple dips.
2. No funkos inflating the price!

This will definitley have some overlap with the platinum collections. They aren't going to leave off all the most popular shorts.

That said I hope we get a decent number of new to blu ones. They restored a bunch of shorts for hbomax and I'd love for some of those restorations to land here.

This also probably won't be a popular opinion but I'd love to see more of the 60s shorts on these collections (they are planning at least 2 based on that title). That era is underrepresented on the Platinum and Golden collections.

Why is that even necessary in a set entitled Collector's Choice? Again, the Platinum Collections could be reprinted for cheap.

The platinum collections started over a decade ago and fizzled out. Looks like they are just starting fresh.

I would have loved for them to reprint the platinum sets (for other people, i already have them) and put out a collection 4, 5, etc.

Ultimately it isn't the end of the world as long as we get some new to blu/HD shorts. They'll put a few of the most popular ones on there because you can't leave out the classics. You want some recognizable ones for general people.

Cautiously optimistic about this, since a number of cartoons were remastered for HBO Max and then taken off again, it would be relatively inexpensive to pick some of these for this set without the cost of remastering them from scratch, and the mention of volume one means we may get another series of releases, the first since the platinum collections ended.

The title implies fans will have some sort of choice on the contents, although in the case of Platinum Collection Volume 2, fans got to pick one of six choices, with the other five options all ending up on volume 3 anyway, so I imagine it would be a choice like that, with limited options.

As a British Looney Tunes fan, I hope if there are new cartoons, that we get this in the UK, despite us being one of the few European countries that got all the Gold Collections, the Platinum's were never released here.

They need to do something quite a bit meatier, since they have hundreds more new restorations to choose from because of HBO Max.

They could easily do a set with 100 cartoons at virtually pure profit, since the restoration work has been done. a measly 25 cartoons isn't gonna cut it.

It being a single disc release may be a smarter play. Lower msrp encourages more casual buys. If it sells more they can keep making kore of these sets. Considering how things played out with the 3 disc platinum collections a new approach may be better.
