It can't be any worse than Giallo. I'm hoping it's at least on par with Phantom of the Opera, which is just so crazy that I have to admire it. I'm curious about language options though. Dubbed in Italian? With English subtitles? I'm also hoping for a release with both 2D and 3D included (I'm not 3D compatible yet, but I am buying a few 3D titles for the day when I am).

I like your Phantom verdict. In Phantom's defence (against all of it's haters), the photography is excellent and it plays MUCH better in Italian. Julian Sands' strangely, rather wooden performance works a lot better when his hammy vocal delivery is removed. Odd film indeed, no wonder John Malkovich dropped out of the title role. Fingers crossed that Dracula 3D significantly manages to better the misjudged Giallo project. I have this bd on pre-order but hopefully language info will be announced before my copy arrives. I'd be surprised if it didn't include both english and Italian s'tracks.

Listing on Amazon now says Italian audio only. I've cancelled mine and will wait until it has been released to see if it has an English track or not.

Damn. But I'm keeping my order. Want it. Will confirm track options.

I used to have an Italian Hitchcock? dvd & when an english version arrived, it was a real let-down - it was much more enjoyable when I didn't comprehend just how utterly vapid both the dialogue & script were.

Amazon.it isn't always reliable when it comes to specs. It contains English audio according to promo material found at this link: http://horrorpedia.com/2013/02/08/dr...ay-debut-news/

This movie is so bad it has to be seen to be believed. Argento finally lost every spark of talent he ever had.

Think this will be Argento's last film. Still looking forward to checking it out. Is it an improvement over Giallo or just as bad?

I would say Giallo is a better film, if that is at all possible.
I get my hopes up with every new film and they are crushed every time.
One last kick-ass giallo would be a great swan song, I would hate for him to end on this note.

Giallo was far away from being a good film but it had a few right ingridients.
On Dracula all the acting is miserable (even Asia can't shine here), the sets look cheap, the CGI effects look like they were made in the 90s, there is no atmosphere or tension in the whole movie. Claudio Simonetti delivers a score that would have fit a video game 15 years ago. It's overlong at 110 minutes and Rutger Hauer appears for the first time after around 70 minutes.
And still it is presented with such seriousness that you can't even embrace it as Trash or funny.

Good posts, thanks.

I thought that MoT wasn't quite as bad as many made out. Ditto with Pelts to be honest. Enjoyable guilty-ish violent pleasures with a bit of visual flourish - that wasn't too long ago. But maybe Argento should hang up his gloves & retire now that he's in his 70s? Will share my Dracula 3D thoughts in a week or so. I still like the fella - doesn't hurt that he's incredibly personable when you meet him.

Well I find things to like even in the films I dislike, Giallo being one of them, but Dracula was just plain bad. MoT I kinda like as well even though it is not a great film, I still see a lot of Argentoesque touches in it.

If anything I would watch Dracula at least once more just to checkout the
3D.

I saw MoT at a one-off screening, it was fun to hear the audible gasps of shock at the outrageously violent opening murder. Interestingly, the final demise of the third mother had a LOT of impact on a very large screen - oddly it just doesn't come across as well at home. Interestingly, at least 30% of attendees were women - strong female fanbase for Dario - which is pretty cool imo.

Yeah that is interesting that women are attracted to his films when you consider the misogynistic label Argento has been given in the past, which I always felt was ridiculous.

MoT isn't as bad as people make it out to be (I enjoy it) and I think Giallo, while totally unremarkable, isn't an awful film. I'm a total Argento die hard so I've been impatiently awaiting this (and the inevitable heart ache I'm sure it'll cause). Hoping for English audio.
