Default 4k tvs with HDR in the $600-$800 range

Looking to get my first 4K tv next month during tax season so I'm looking for suggestions. Have to stay within $600-$800 range and must have HDR. I already started getting 4K blurays so no worries on that front.

Wouldn't have it any other way. Bigger the better for me.

You better wait until next Black Friday because you are not going to get HDR reproduction with near enough quality in that price range... with at least 10 bit processing and close to or at DCI-P3 color rendition.

The closest is the 8000 series SUHD displays from Samsung, and a 55" is just over $1,100 right now. It has 10 bit processing, 1,000 nit HDR10, and close to DCI-P3 color.

Buy a cheap 4k display and you will be disappointed.

At Best Buy currently, there is a Sony 55" 4K with HDR that's $749. I don't know much about Sony TVs. I definitely wouldn't get anything less than a 50".

I would find the extra few hundred dollars or save my dough for a Samsung SUHD. It has HDR10 and Dolby Vision both. We're aiming for a 65" sometime this year, hopefully in the next few months.

I don't believe Samsung supports Dolby Vision... just HDR10 for UHD Blu-ray. LG and now Sony definitely does in 2017.

Even Sony is getting into DV OLED. The trouble is that no one knows if Sony's UHD disc players will have DV. Crazy Sony!

This is a good place to look for deals: https://slickdeals.net/deals/tv/ and then places like rtings.com have reviews of most models or you could look the model up here

I was thinking they did. I thought the newer Vizio's had the hardware to support Dolby Vision content.

At least this doesn't look like previous format wars so far.
