Day 1!!!

This is my number one most wanted Blu-ray. I didn't think it was ever coming at this point.

Edit:
What's "Universal Mod"? (I'm assuming Manufactured On Demand) That's not a BD-R is it?

My Google Fu brought me to Fletch Lives which was also Universal Mod and by the comments in the topic here on that film, it's a pressed disc so potential crisis averted. (Hopefully it has the theatrical poster artwork like Fletch Lives does because the DVD artwork for The Wizard is terrible)

This is great news! Love this movie. I hope it's not a BD-R though. It shouldn't be. I was hoping Shout would get this.

Also looks like "Kicking and Screaming" and "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" are coming with this batch as well. Amazon pre-orders are up for them as well.

I saw this film at the dollar show many years ago as a kid. I had to have SMB3 after watching it.

Great news. The Wizard is a fantastic movie, and very underrated. I was a mild fan of video games in the '80's & '90's, though this film completely passed me by when it was first released in '89; I saw it for the first time about 6-8 years ago.

The Wizard was a childhood staple for me. With the current interest in retro gaming, there's no better time to release this.

A surprise. I don't mind the BD-Rs, as long as they are official studio releases and the transfers are decent. Still, wonder why Shout didn't pick this up (pending it was an option for them).

Thus far, Universal MOD Blu-rays have been pressed (like Warner Archive titles), not BD-R discs.

Not only was the DVD release lean on extras, they were non-existent, not even a trailer, and it didn’t even have a full menu. I think it was just a play option.

I don’t see this as a prime candidate for a boutique label re-release either. I’m almost certain Nintendo would have no part of it and I could easily see Fred Savage, Jenny Lewis and Christian Slater all passing.

Watching it as an adult and showing my kids i was shocked at the language in a PG Nintendo informercial

Showed this one to the nieces a few years back (ages 8 and 12 at the time) and they were not nearly as impressed as I was at their age, but it definitely made my nostalgic and dug out my old NES for a weekend. This will have to be a day 1 for me...
