Talking BD Burner...Do they all burn 25Gig & 50 Gig discs.

Are there specific burners out there for burning BD disks. I'm asking b/c I see some advertising for BD burners and they're triple layer burner that can burn upto 25 Gig disks. Does this mean they are limited to 25 Gigs or can they go higher?

I'm not aware of any double layer burners being released yet. I don't even think they have any double layer media. I'm sure it's coming, but none yet.

The Sony Bluray burners burn 25 and 50 gb disc. Some of the early drives may have been limited to 25 gb but I think they all can do 50 gb's now. I haven't burned a 50gb yet, mainly the price on those are still high, on my Sony BWU-100A.

Well at 16x, DVD gets 168.75 Mbit/s or 21.09 MB/s. At 4x, BD gets 144 Mbit/s or 18 MB/s. Speed is relative, in this case.

There are BD50 media, both BD-R and BD-RE(rewritable). There are also burners.

As write said, speed is relative. 50 gb is about 10 4.7gb dvd's and so you figure about 4-5 minutes to burn and manually changing disc from the burner is about 45-50mins

Here's a list of recorders: http://www.emedialive.com/articles/r...leid=11425#ixd

Single-layer 25 GB, dual-layer 50 GB. Newer units burn both.
