Bill says not big news but I strongly disagree. It's a terrific film, and there is nothing else quite like it. This is a major cult release!

That's big news indeed. The film is great and I love it.
Hopefully Bill tries to get the extras from the Shriek Show DVD: 3 minute intro by Deodato, audio commenatry with Deodato, interviews with Rassimov and Foschi (each about 30 minutes) and more.

Holy crap! Been asking for this for a long time. Such an underrated and atmospheric film.

Wish it carried the Last Cannibal World or Jungle Holocaust title, but whatever, we're getting a new 2K scan.

I love this movie. One of my favourite Italian cannibal movies. The old Shriek Show DVD really is in need of an upgrade and doesn't look great. I just hope I can get a copy of this in the UK. Hopefully Diabolik will stock it.

It played in US theaters (at least my town) as THE LAST SURVIVOR upon its original release so I'm cool with that title.

The Shriek Show disc was 'OK' for its time, but looks really bad today now that everything is going HD. Still keeping it for those miniature lobby cards.

Man, the titles on these things are confusing. I remember seeing a bunch about "Last Cannibal World" in that documentary on Cannibal Holocaust's Grindhouse release, so I thought that was a different movie entirely since this one seems to be listed as "Jungle Holocaust" everywhere - I'd never even heard of "Last Survivor." Then "Man from Deep River" seems to be listed as "Sacrifice!" on the blu-ray release, so I had no idea THAT was announced for a while (though who knows if it will ever actually come out since Raro is mostly incompetent). Now all we need is for "Eaten Alive" to get released as "Doomed to Die" to complete the trilogy of confusingly titled cannibal movies (all starring Me Me Lai, to make it even more confusing).

While it played in the US under the SURVIVOR title, this reflects a hacked to bit for the MPAA reduction of the film and is most likely the title that is least familiar to fans.

The original export English title is LAST CANNIBAL WORLD...
JUNGLE HOLOCAUST is a re issue title created to cash in on CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST.

Ha, true about the variant titles. Funny, that the film was known as "The Last Survivor" for its US theatrical, but that title is probably the least remembered today, and yes, that version was edited for an R rating. I believe it was Video City (the US VHS label that put the film out on tape) where the "Jungle Holocaust" name first originated - and that tape was the uncut version. Not sure if they changed the title themselves, or if the licensor they got it from already changed it. And the Jungle Holocaust title seems to have stuck ever since, even though that tape was practically impossible to find back then.

I googled for any "Jungle Holocaust" poster and all that comes up is the Video City VHS cover, so I can't find any proof that it was ever released theatrically under that title. But if you google The Last Survivor poster, you will find a couple of variant posters used for the US theatrical release, including one with the art Code Red is using on their cover.

Fantastic news! I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I was kinda hoping a label like Severin would be picking this one up since they have already announced several former Shriek Show titles (Burial Ground, Beyond the Darkness, Eaten Alive, etc.).

Just found out about this. Awesome!

I need to pay more attention to Code Red's release slate. I've been wanting more cannibal movies on Blu-ray, particularly this one. Never seen it. With Severin I worry about DNR so I'm kinda glad it's not with them. Hopefully this comes from the negative and gets a nice encode. I'm hoping that it is uncut too. I wish they used Last Cannibal World or Jungle Holocaust on the cover, The Last Survivor is so generic. I like the artwork though. This is probably my first "must-have" from Code Red since Savage Streets. Would like to see the Italian cult titles continue.

An update from a few weeks ago, including new Kung Fu Bob artwork.

Quote:
Here is our new custom cover art for the up coming JUNGLE HOLOCAUST Blu-Ray by artist Robert O'Brien.

The release will feature a new 2016 2K HD scan of the inter-positive
The extras are still in production, so nothing to report yet, but the interviews from the Media Blasters DVD will be included. Unfortunately, the U.S cut of the film will not be included.

The first 2,000 units will come in a slipsleeve, so be sure to place your order at Ronin flix when it goes up live this summer!

unfortunately, code red, as well as the German label who licensed this, both has ran into a snag with the master provided by the licensor, so until all this is rectified, there is no update, sadly.

Default A new artwork

A new artwork for Jungle Holocaust showed up from Freak-O-Rama video productions and it is listed on the 2018 BD catalogue. Not sure but looks like CR's.

Finally got around to watching the Severin disc of Eaten Alive. I had forgotten how solid this movie was. And that got me thinking that I haven't seen this particular film in years. I'm glad to hear the update and that it looks to be back on track for a 2018 release!
