Nice stuff-- several nitpicks though:
There is way too much siding on the façade of that home. The house is huge-- you need to go with masonry or limestone for a home of that grandeur. A drop down screen with a projector is a bit of a waste in that bedroom, with the generally poor light control and very light decor. I would prefer a drop down 60" Kuro in that setting over a drop down screen/pj. You can watch it with the windows open and it will last you much longer than the Runco between bulb changes. The picture quality will also be better in that enviroment. The owner is obviously well-heeled, but also is probably not very knowledgeable about equipment. You can tell by the gear selected that his installer chose most, if not all, of the equipment. The Meridian, Lexicon, and Stewart gear is fine stuff, but Monster A/V Cable? Nordost, Transparent, Tara, and a long list of others would be much better considerations in those systems. Meridian makes some great front end stuff, but speaker wise, I would prefer Wilson Audio, Dynaudio, or Revels with the amps to match if you're going to spend that kind of money. Runco also makes some excellent projectors, but they are way overpriced for what you get (read: great margins for the installer). Plus, why would you put a VX5 in that theater: Quote:
![]() A Sim2 HT5000 (at about half the price) or a Barco DP1500 (at just a little bit over 100k) would run circles around that projector. Heck, for that size screen a Sim2 C3X1080 (at about 26k) would best that projector. The Stewart screen in the main theater should also be larger, given the seating arrangement. The Meridian center channel is 4.5 feet wide, which would make that screen roughly 9 feet wide. A screen of about 12-14' wide would work much better for that seating arrangement/room. Strong consideration should be made for an acoustically transparent, auto masking CineCurve for that scope setup and also for placement of the center channel behind the screen. Also, in the main theater room, even the best speakers in the world can benefit from having subs. Not having subs in that room is a bit of a travesty. Oneobgyn at AVS and Audiogon has Wilson Audio Alexandria X-2's which produce ridiculous bass as his mains, yet he has a pair ( ![]() Ok-- so that was a lot of nitpicks. ![]() The models and posters are awesome, and love the water feature.
