I’ve never looked at it that way. Sure on the outside you can say everything has drama, but Sci-fi is just that to me. I don’t watch 2001 and feel I’m watching a drama. Same thing with a thriller which is pretty easy to define as keep as its own. When I say drama I am talking Green Book, Shawshank Redemption, 99 Homes, There Will Be Blood, Manchester by the Sea, etc.... I’m not exactly sure what else I should call those besides a drama.

While I agree that there are a lot of lines blurred, I consider a pure drama to be a film focused on a character's (or a person's life) and nothing more. How else can one categorize films like Citizen Kane?
