The poster has always intrigued me but never heard any strong opinions on the film itself. Don't know if I can muster the strength to blind buy.

I would not blind buy. I get drawn to the movie, as I remember seeing the Frederick Forsyhth novel on my dad's bookshelf as a kid and it always intrigued me. But I just don't think the movie is any great shakes.

Yeah The Dogs of War kind of...sucks. Reportedly it was the victim of copious post-production cutting, and you can sense a better movie struggling to come out of what is left.

I actually think it looks pretty good. I received the Scorpion disc a few days ago. I think the color timing is vastly improved compared to the Twilight Time release. The release is a new 2K scan of the I.P. The older release may have been from the O.C.N as it looks a tad sharper.

I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I should point out that the new Scorpion release has a teal push, which can be seen by comparing screencaps.
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...166376&i=0&l=0 I don't like it. Greys are now steel blue. Seems revisionist to me, so I say stick with the Twilight Time release. |
