I haven't seen this for years - I thought it was OK, but the subtitles on the DVD were a transcript of the theatrical subtitles, spelling errors and all ("Hay!" for "Hey!" etc...)

RETURN OF GOD OF GAMBLERS really deserves a physical release on BD.

By the way: Avoid the upcoming German Mediabook release of RETURN. It is a bootleg as usual. The source for all these illegal releases has also been uncovered by now: they are ripped from iTunes in Malaysia.

It's too bad they aren't doing a nice big bix set like Spectrum is doing... but hopefully they release the rest of the series.

I already have the Hong Kong and Korean releases for God of Gamblers 3 but I'd like to see part 2 get a release as well.

This was released as a category II in Hong Kong. Wonder why it got the 18 in the UK?

The BBFC used to give practically every HK action movie an 18.

Probably because the legal age to gamble in the UK is 18 so permitting a younger audience to view it would be a no-no.

Yes - maybe it's the gambling element - it was an 18 in the 90s - but then so was just about everything else. Definitely not that violent though so would have expected the rating to have dropped to 15

This was an '18' due to quite a few shooting scenes with bloody squibs. Seemed a perfectly reasonable decision twenty or so years ago when I watched the dvd. I'd have to watch it again to see what I think now of course. Whatever the bbfc would rate it now would probably be incorrect anyway though going by recent form...

Regardless, this is a very entertaining film and a release with subtitles which make any kind of sense will be a blessing!

Heard a lot about this movie over the years but have yet to watch it. Perhaps I will pick up this release in March.

I was happy to see Wild Search and Seventh Curse get released. Now we get God of Gamblers. It's a start. Germany is releasing some titles as well like City on Fire and Tiger on Beat but I don't know what kind of quality they are.

I've been saying it for years, but we need a Ringo Lam On Fire set (except Sky On Fire) given the 88 or Eureka treatment.

Tiger On Beat would be awesome as well, maybe with the second one (which has a few moments) as an extra.
