Default How do you know what resolution your game is running at?

I hear people post questions about how certain games will say it supports 1080p but when they play it it runs in 720p. And many other issues like that. I just want to know how people know what resolution there game is running at? Is there some menu button you can press to see? Or would it be a option on your TV remote to see what resolution is being displayed? I can't find anything anywhere that tells me what the current resolution of something on the screen is.

Personally, I use the display button on my tv (XBR4) and it tells me what is being input to it.

My TV tells me. I had used the componet cables first and it didnt tell me anything. When I switched to using the HDMI cables, now it always tells me what it is inputing. A little window in the corner of my tv displays the input.

I'm in the boat with you on this one.... ok, maybe not the same boat, but on the same river. I have the KDL52W3000 instead of the XBR4.

I dont think my TV tells me, but i havent played with the options much.

What I do instead is hit the PS button, so it asks me if I want to quit the game. If the text is tiny, it's 1080. If it's a little larger, then its 720.

Good enough for now for me.

I play all my PS3 games at 1920x1080p thanks to the onkyo 875 it up samples everything to 1080p, games that are 720p play in 1080p, extras on Blu-ray that are 480p are 1080p, every thing I love this amp
