Rating: NR Directed By: Nicholas Verso Written By: Nicholas Verso Runtime: 112 minutes Studio: Mushroom Pictures Just stumbled across this. Reviews are pretty good and it looks good from the trailer. I'll check it out. Seems atmospheric and I love stuff set on/around Halloween. |

I know this was made before IT came out but there will be the people who try to compare this to IT.
I think it looks interesting and I love me a good coming of age movie with a horror/Halloween twist. I even enjoy the kids part of Now and Then |

I've been wanting to see this since I first saw a trailer about a year ago. Glad that it's hit Netflix. That's how I finally managed to check out the gorgeous Evolution, which was in and out of IFC Center in the blink of an eye.
Did this one have any sort of limited release in the U.S.? |

Read a lot of good reviews on Netflix and tried to watch this last night. Only made it half an hour. I guess I couldn't identify with any of the characters, and most of them got on my nerves. I might have to try and watch it again in a couple weeks and see how I feel, but initially - a disappointment.

Moody and intetesting, and I liked how some of the more cruel behaviors exhibited by certain characters comes from a place of adolescent fear and uncertainty, no one is painted in strictly black and white terms. The desire to remain in childhood whilst feeling the inexorable pull towards adulthood (and the film is savvy in showing the girls are more mature and accepting of this process than the boys) done with a touch of the supernatural. It has its flaws but is well worth a look; an emotional coming-of-age drama crossed with fantasy.
