Disney Gigantic (Disney, 2020)

C A N C E L L E D

Nathan Greno (on the right)

Disney announced the follow-ups for 'Frozen' and 'Big Hero 6'. Zootopia (2016), Giants (2016), Moana (2018) and Untitled Project (2018).

After Zootopia comes Giants. The next non-sequel computer animated feature on the list. According to Disney it will show us how big Nathan Greno (co-director Tangled, writer Meet the Robinsons and Brother Bear) his influence on 'Tangled' actually was. He's directing this fresh take on a magical fairy tale.

Giants will be released in the winter of 2016.

Another strenuously generic title...

In time we will know what the actual title will be. If a good title like "The Bear and the Bow" (at least, imo) changes in "Brave", maybe "Giants" will become a title with more than two words.

I can't wait for reissues of Lilo & Stitch as Wacky Alien, The Aristocats as Cats and The Jungle Book as The Jungle.

I'm guessing it's based more on a current book, but with a more marketable title. What that is, we'll find out at one of the two big expensive summer conventions every ELSE goes to.

Indeed. The last few years every single project changed by name at least twice. Same for Pixar.

Anyhow ... The logo :

The logo is great, isn't it? I love the placement of the beanstalk in the letter 'A'.

Ooooooh! I like the sound of this. You can't say they aren't trying something new with it. Then, I love Disney and they have been on a roll recently so I hope this will fit right into their new renneaisance, one word title or no.

I agree, it looks brilliant. I'm glad they'll be doing another classic fairy tale

I have to say it's another project I'm very excited about. Also, I thought "Tangled" was great, while I thought "Frozen" was overrated at least. So I'm glad the Rapunzel-director is back with another fairytale. Great artwork!

Meg Lefauve is now the co-director of 'Gigantic'. She's one of the writers of both 'Inside Out' and 'The Good Dinosaur', also working on the script the upcoming 'Captain Marvel' movie. Apparently her writing for 'Gigantic' was such an important part for the story, Meg got promoted. Co-director Nathan Greno (Tangled) is staying.

This just got bumped from 2018 to November 25, 2020. Yikes, is this ever coming out? This is almost as bad as Avatar!

Disney shifted a bunch of release dates: http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-e...-release-date/

For animation they delayed Wreck it Ralph from March to November 2018, set Frozen 2 for November 2019 and delayed Coco two years to 2020.
