Clearly there's something to be said for "less is more," and sometimes it's precisely because those minor characters aren't front and centre that we feel their appeal more than any of the major players.
But, in an ideal world, where the stars would align and a great creative team would come together to flesh out a prequel, side story, or sequel for a minor character you really dig, which character would you choose for such a film, and what type of film would it be? My first choice is Budd from Kill Bill Vol.2. It would be a prequel but not "Young Budd," just a few years prior to KB2 with Madsen in the role. My second choice would be - a weird one - a young Sister Aloysius originally played by Streep in Doubt. She mentions in Doubt that she was married and lost her husband in the war. I dunno, i just think it'd be cool to see the circumstances that drove her to take her vows and form her stringent beliefs, so a prequel with a younger actress. |
