I downloaded a tone generator for my laptop, utilized my external DAC and UMC-200 Prepro analog inputs. Using my SPL meter, I plotted the response graph at sitting location, every 2 Hz from 20 to 100. Then learned how to use the UMC-200's PEQ. I learned to set "Q" values. I set the PEQ to +3 dB over about 1 octave at ~38 Hz and -6 over about 1/3 octave at ~ 50 Hz, and you can see the results in the graph below. Tamed it fairly well. I had no complaints before changing it, and haven't had time to listen, but flatter should be better. I decided not to worry about the below 30 Hz fall off. It isn't great to boost the really low frequencies (IMO) and it could be my SPL meter as much as an actual fall off, the SVS have GOBS of low bass.

After having some time to listen, it does sound better flat (no big surprise there). The overall volume level was lessened by about 3 or 4 dB after EQing, after adjusting for that, sounding even better.
Also, "C" weighted readings are down 6 dB at 20 Hz, 3 dB at 31.5 Hz and 2 dB at 40 Hz. If I correct for that, the response is pretty flat all the way to 20 Hz ![]() Last edited by brad1138; 04-04-2017 at 03:42 PM. |
