Warner Bros Dolphin Tale (2011) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free] [Dolphin Tale 2 (2014) Never in 3D]

Had the fam over last night and we watched Dolphin's Tale. The reviews for this movie gave an overwhelming thumbs up for the use of 3D. This site alone gave the 3D use a 5 out of 5. Did I miss something?

The movie itself was enjoyable and there were some cool use of 3D effects. But I would only say maybe a 2.5 or 3 out of 5. Watch Kung Fu Panda or RE and I could see a score of 5 out of 5. But Dolphin's Tale, the use of 3D was limited, the opening scene with the dolphins swimming underwater was very cool but the rest of the movie the technology was scarcely applied.

I am happy with the purchase and everyone enjoyed the movie. The movie looks terrific on Blu Ray but nobody was wowed by the 3D though.

That is why I didn't pick it up. How's the depth though?

There were moments where the depth was good but much of the movie just didn't utilize the technology, not as much as many of the reviews I read stated it did.

It is a good movie. I just expected more since the rave reviews of the use of 3D.

The depth was outstanding. Granted, there were very few pop out moments. If that's the reason why you like 3D, forget it. Personally I could care less. To each their own I liked this movie a lot....in all aspects.

I must have watched a different movie because I feel it is one of the best live action 3D movies to date. The depth was definitely outstanding. There wasn't too much pop out, but what do you expect in a movie about a Dolphin? I loved the movie..and I think any animal lover will as well. I disagree that it's like Free Willy... It does get a little too sentimental for me at times, but in the end it's one of the best 3D Blu Rays out there.

I didn't think the depth was outstanding at all. There were scenes that were outstanding but the overall movie I didn't think it was outstanding at all.

Again, I'm happy with adding it to the collection but I expected more given the reviews this movie received. I could reel off two or three dozen titles that were better 3D releases.....in my opinion.

I bought this for my family and got it today!

Very surprised as I've not seen this few posts on a 3D movie.

It's mainly been discussed in the last bought or watched thread:

This movie was obviously intended for kiddos but I still found myself smiling every time they made the dolphin do something cute! Normally it annoys me when movies imbue animals with the sophisticated Human emotion but it worked here.

There were a few pop-out moments but as opposed to using 3D as a spectacle It seemed very organic and it especially made the underwater scenes seem much more immersive. If you haven't seen this I would definitely recommend watching it for the strong 3D alone.

Another great example that proves 3D can increase one's enjoyment of many kinds of film - not just action or sci-Fi films!

That's how I felt too. It was good medium layering but nothing strong or amazing from what I saw. It was a family TV style movie for sure. I like dolphins, but it wasn't enough to make my want to see it again.
