We had an Xbox Live account with our original Xbox. An account that we ended up not using due to the age of our son at the time and the language we encountered. I'm asking this because I don't remember exactly how it worked since it was ~5 years ago.
When you sign up for a Live account 1. What is it tied to? A specific person/user account and/or the machine or a combination etc. 2. Do you need a seperate Live account for each persons on-line identity or does each Live account support multiple people/identities for each local user identity? If anyone has both PSN and Live then correlating the terminology would be useful. |

You need to create a live account on the PSN store for EACH name. You will have a "master" account that will be the "Dad" which can limit what the others can access or use. Buttttt you can set it up so that the games you download can be used by all of the name on your account. The only game that I know of that you cant use for all names on your account is Warhawk.

The language on line can still be a problem with some online games. We usually have the head set on, it language is a problem, I just set the head set down but leave it turned on. If the head set is turned OFF, you will hear others LANGUAGE over the TV.
Your account is the Master, You then create SUB accounts under you. |

P.S. You can do that with Warhawk..if you bought the Blu-ray version.. it was one of the reasons I went with the disc since we have multiple child units. ![]() Update:when I say equivalent I meant my original question not just this specific response. |

Yep it was Xbox Live I was interested in .. PSN is my frame of reference hence the last line about correlating terminology between the two.

You can Play with a 'guest(s)' online free (gold account, IE pay account) you just can not talk to the other player online. Last edited by clyon; 12-31-2007 at 06:09 PM. |

So with 4 different people in our family actively using on-line do I have the follwing right? In our case that would mean ~$200 dollars per year (for a total of $1000 overall going by how long we used the Xbox). Some of our kids are older now and use on-line all the time - so guesting wouldn't really be the same as building up their own profile. And as of now two of us have additional user sub accounts for different aliases on-line.. so that would cost another $100 per year ($500 long term) if we wanted it on Live? When I calculated the costs orginally last year I was only counting Live as $50 per year..from what I think your saying .. for families it's actually far worse.. or am I misinterpreting something? |
