Hm, that is disappointing. Even Universal's Blu-ray had a 7.1 track, which is missing here.

Epic fail, I’d passed on importing other 4Ks because they didn’t have Dolby Atmos

Yeah, I figured this would be an upgrade over the Scandinavian and Eagle releases just for having Atmos and English subtitles, but it seems subtitles is the only thing going for it. Really hard to justify a double dip here, if you already own one of the existing 4Ks.

The Shout press release of their The Boy and the Heron UHD mistakenly omitted Dolby Atmos and listed 7.1 and another user claimed that they mentioned HDR10 on the GKIDS website whereas the back cover shows a Dolby Vision and Atmos logo. Therefore I wouldn’t rule anything out just yet.

It feels like maybe Universal wouldn't let them do this or create new bonus materials for some reason. I know that's in the contract when studios license out films sometimes and it feels like that's what happened here.

I totally want this in 4k but a lack of Atmos is like a kick in the Gucci.
