I've bought this film four times... twice on DVD and twice on Blu-ray (Twlilight Time and Carlotta releases). I wasn't gonna bother with this release, but I had no idea it had a Craig Wasson interview! He was mysteriously absent from the Special Edition DVD extras. Does he have anything interesting to say about the film and its cult following? I always assumed he regretted being in it.

Does it use Carlotta's 4k transfer?

Not sure if I want Christine straight away yet but plan on definitely getting this one (especially considering it's the 4K transfer). Looking forward to this, especially after seeing the Baumbach/Paltrow doc De Palma - and I also have a copy of Phantom of the Paradise on its way (and Raising Cain in January)!

I wonder if Indicator might follow this up with Casualties of War, seeing as it's a Sony title? Not sure what the current master's like though.

I've got the Japanese release of Casualties of War, and I would give the picture quality a solid 4/5. Now that Carrie has been restored recently, I'd say that the only De Palma film that desperately needs remastering is Scarface.

Can't wait for this. Sam, having now had the disc is there any reason I'd keep the Uk DVD (I add with a swing if worth keeping).

The only De Palma titles we would like the most are-
-Sisters (updated version from Criterion)
-Femme Fatale
-Scarface (Remastered)
and if we want-
-US edition of Obsession

Not if these are limited in anyway to need to be day one? I have the Aussie Christine which I'd give 5/5 for audio visual, but if this one popped into a 5 for £30 HMV deal I'd pick up for the extras and artwork.

I've had a flick through only, but you can give that DVD to a charity shop. The Blu has all the extras from the French release whilst adding the Wasson interview (and none of the DVD releases AFAIK have as many extras though the R1 SE did have the featurettes).

I had time to work through one of the releases yesterday and went for Christine. Will try and work through this one tonight, and the extras tomorrow.

I think - and I may misremember - that the booklets are limited and perhaps the DVD is too so waiting too long might mean just getting the blu and losing those. I can't see these selling too fast though.

Yes, limited to 5000 on the first two releases, 3000 on the Sidney Poitier films, 5000 for 10 Rillington Place according to their website.

Cheers, DVD only had filmographies and trailer as extras.

Never watch the DVD that's included unless it has a different cut, which I think only Lord of Illusions from 101 or 88 had. Very rarely flick through the booklet. Neither would be a loss and if there was a choice of paying £8.99 for just the blu Ray or £12.99 to have it duel format with booklet, I'd pay £8.99 everytime.

Have you seen the Aussie disc for Christine? I remember a few seeing it as an upgrade on the twilight time release, for PQ. It looks flawless to me but I'm not reviewer, like yourself.

Aside from extras, if you have this would you really need to buy the powerhouse release?

Confirmed that both the booklet and DVD are limited edition, and subsequent reissues will just be the BD on its own.

That's fine with me, as I won't be rushing to buy all of these but still might like to get a few later on! I guess that's what Arrow are starting to do, but I prefer knowing this from the get-go - and also confirmed print-run numbers, so we can kinda gauge when to get what.

You're right though, I'm not sure these will fly off the shelves that quickly but I'd still like to get Body Double ASAP at least (and maybe Christine). Plan on getting The Last Detail after that (and then Fat City, The Lady from Shanghai, and The Anderson Tapes).

5000 for cult titles, 3000 for more niche (it seems). Unless the title is something fairly big, like Welles' The Lady from Shanghai, I can't see them straying from that.

I haven't watched any previous Blu-ray of Christine so can't say for sure, but the A/V was excellent. It would be worth an upgrade for the extras obviously on the Australian release, or the isolated score on the Sony releases - can't tell you if the PQ is better on other releases but from watching the disc, if they are, then it can only be by a fraction - especially with them all using the same Sony 2K source.
