Default The CW's "Frequency"

I loved the 2000 film with Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid, so this new take could be very interesting...

Someone at The CW sure loves Peyton List. She's been on The Tomorrow People, The Flash, 90210, Smallville, One Tree Hill, and now this.

I thought Frequency was a decent movie but I just don't see how the premise of this show can work long-term. It sounds interesting though and I'll likely give it a chance.

To be fair, a lot of actors seems to appear across several CW shows with fairly high frequency.

Never saw the movie (not really a fan of Jim Caviezel) but like fatediesel said, I don't see how they can make this premise work as an ongoing TV series. It seems like it would wear thin pretty quick.

The film was fairly early in his career; he didn't become really "bankable" until 2002 with The Count of Monte Cristo. Not long after that he did The Passion of the Christ, then a futuristic thriller called The Final Cut with Robin Williams. His career lowered in profile a little bit after that, but went back up when he was hired for Person of Interest. I still think of Frequency as his "springboard" of sorts; it was a very dramatic and heart-tugging film.

Then again, I'm a sucker for father-son stories, so...

I like the show being a father-daughter relationship this time around as we already got the father-son thing in the film.

I love the film (and Jim Caviezel, Monte Cristo is a very fun movie and Person of Interest is the best show on television since Lost in my opinion) but I'm wondering how the premise could support a series?

Seems like it would be a better fit for a 6-8 part mini-series or something like that.

I didn't watch past 30 seconds or so of the trailer, I'll just wait for the show and watch it then.

It all depends on the writing. If they're smart, they could do it similar to Quantum Leap, where there's a new situation in every episode...but unlike that show, the present-day of Frequency would change depending on the events of the previous episode. In essence, they'd constantly be making small (or even big) changes to the timeline. Mr. Sullivan could even die multiple ways in the past, only to live again when his daughter fixes something to prevent it again. Something tells me though, that the CW wouldn't be comfortable with such a fixed narrative; we'll have to wait and see.

The movie is one of my favorite time travel films ever, and a film I find criminally underrated. So I've been curious to check this out. Trailer looks good so far. I'll be checking it out.

Yeah, its my top pick for time-travel after Back to the Future, and my favorite father-son story after Field of Dreams.

Nice

ABC Family does the same thing with some actors.

I think the movie is great. I like Peyton List from her appearances on Smallville & The Flash. I may give the show a try this Fall.

"SUPERNATURAL'S" JEREMY CARVER BRINGS US A THRILLING NEW DRAMA SERIES STARRING PEYTON LIST ("MAD MEN"), RILEY SMITH ("NASHVILLE") AND MEKHI PHIFER ("ER") - Detective Raimy Sullivan (Peyton List) has always wanted to prove that she is nothing like her father. Brad Anderson directed the episode written by Jeremy Carver (#101). Original airdate 10/5/2016.

This is based on the 2000 movie that starred Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid.

This show is from Jeremy Carver, the former EP and showrunner of Supernatural.

Did anyone watch this last night after Arrow?

Thought it was a terrific Pilot episode. Really liked the set up and Peyton List as the lead.

I think they added enough plot variations to differentiate it from the movie.

Looking forward to more.

Why not? It may not have the nostalgia of the '80s, or the parody fodder of the '00s, but lots of things happened in the '90s decade. The show's poster illustrates perhaps the biggest difference of the early 21st century, contrasting the World Trade Center with the Freedom Tower. But we also had the Persian Gulf War, the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, and the rebirth of pop music with then-new acts like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, the Backstreet Boys, and NSync. One of the biggest films of the early 1990s was Jurassic Park, and the DVD format debuted in 1995 with Twister as its first release. Of course, the late '90s also saw the rampant fear of a crippling computer crash, nicknamed the "Y2K virus"...but I guess my broader point was a lot changes in 20 years, regardless of the decade. People grow and change, just like technology and medicine. The loss of a parent always impacts someone in a very deep way, especially young children. I really loved the Frequency film, and will probably watch the pilot today; here's hoping it works with the notable changes.

The lead character Raimy was 8 in 1996 and now she's 28 in 2016.

It's a different spin on the movie and it's storyline.

Not a bad show if you liked the movie it is based on but how is it going to continue on for multiple seasons
[Show spoiler]once things are resolved & Raimy has both her mother and father alive in 2016/2017?
