Info before I ask: I'm living in USA right now.
In year 2012, I have asked this questions: Are there any headphones that support DTS-HD/MA, DolbyTruHD or any Blu-ray capable? Now we are in year 2017. Maybe I thought since it's 2017, I was wondering if the situations with headphones became much better. Now I see there are stuffs Like: - DTS:X Headphones - Dolby Headphones Are they actually selling headphones that have those above technologies? Now that I have purchased LG UP970 4K UHD Player, I now again think about purchasing Headphones for it. This player has 1 HDMI (Video & ARC), HDMI 2 (audio only), and optical out. Things I can't do: - Can't purchase and use external speaker: I live in the apartment. Things I have or use: - Regular 1440p PC Monitor as display to watch 1080p blu-ray using LG UP970 4K UHD Player. - LG UP970 4K UHD Player And as long as there is optical connection on headphone/headset, I can use it with 4K UHD TV or any TV available? I just found this, "Katana 7.1 HD Wireless Headset". Does it still selling in retail store? Of course if I had been living at either Asia or UK, I would have bought "HW700DS" or "MDR-DS7500". But since I live in USA I can't. Also, if I can't find any solution, then I might going to buy actual 4K UHD TV. Is there way to listen full features of Dolby Atmos/DTS-HD MA/Dolby TrueHD/etc using headphones? Last edited by ajy0903; 04-13-2017 at 02:25 AM. |

With optical you can only pass lossy audio and two channel lossless.
Your best option is the Smyth Realizer A16. It accepts HDMI input and decodes all lossless and lossy tracks including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X ad Auro3D to 7.1.4 render. The caveat is that it comes with generic HRTF which works fine, but to really customize it to yourself, you need to take measurements in a reference room. Since you have an audio out HDMI on your player, the HDMI 2.0a port on the base unit shouldn't be an issue. You can buy Sony MDR-DS7500 from Amazon US or Smart Imports. They both ship to the US. The Katana 7.1 and others (Logitech, Razer) are gaming oriented and sound bad on movies or TV shows. |
