Movie about the oil rig explosion that led to BP oil spill. Looks good and has a good cast.

Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Battleship) is directing the screenplay written by Matthew Sand and Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom). The screenplay is based upon the 2010 New York Times article Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hours by David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, RED) and Mark Vahradian (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, RED) are producing for di Bonaventura Pictures along with Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, David Womark (Life of Pi) for Closest to the Hole and Leverage Entertainment. The film is executive produced by Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King at Participant Media.

Deepwater Horizon is based on the true events that occurred on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010, the story chronicles the courage of those who worked on the Deepwater Horizon and the extreme moments of bravery and survival in the face of what would become one of the biggest man-made disasters in world history.

Lionsgate is set to release Deepwater Horizon via its Summit Entertainment label in North America on September 30, 2016.

looks pretty good, but damn, was wishing it'd be more of a regular Trailer so we'd see more, other than the family thing and a few snippets of the "Event" happening for a few seconds.

This seems highly unnecessary, just like that Everest movie, and all the other recent true story films like The Walk and The Finest Hours. I'm calling middling reviews and mediocre box office receipts now.

Really horrible trailer imo. The family scene throughout the whole trailer is just too long and unnecessary. We get it, he's got a family.. so did the other people. It should have been focused on the people who were on the rig.

Excellent. Better trailer. Glad they didn't show a lot, just parts of the event.

Thanks to the trailer I've seen at least half of the movie. Hoped for something critical about the contamination of the sea and marine life, but judging from the trailer this seems to be the average heroic family man story.

it could have some of that, but they don't put the boring stuff in trailers

This will be something very close to my profession, though I'm no longer going to offshore rigs. Will be a good HSE material, my company might arrange for a screening for this.

During this trailer in front of X-Men, my friend and I were rolling our eyes and sighing. Looks like absolute garbage. When the trailer ended, I leaned over and said "I guess you can turn any event into an action/thriller with enough of a score."
