Thumbs down Constantly Getting Screwed on Release Dates

It happened again. January 1st was release day for 4 movies I want: Shoot 'Em Up, War and the 1st and 3rd Resident Evil. I wnet to BB on January 1st @ 1:00pm and the only movie they had was Resident Evil #3. And I don't mean that I missed out on any copies of the other movies I was looking for by going late - they didn't even have them available for sale yet!

This happens all the time and it is B.S.. Future Shop (owned by BB) is the same and Walfart is just a damn joke. They always have DVD copies on release day but 50-75% of the time the Blu-Rays are not on the shelves yet. I went back today (two days later) and they only had War available.

I read all these post here about people getting new movies before their actual release dates (say at Walmart) and how nice that must be. I am still waiting to get Van Wilder and AC/DC for pete's sake. I know, patience is a virtue but I say - advertise the release then make damn sure the units are available to the consumer. We're the one's that drive this segment of the Hi-Def economy so make us/me happy.

Do you have no other options than where you're going? That must suck, but I would like you to know that I did today get Sunshine, so I can't say that I know what you're going through.

My BB always puts movies out early, until the past two weeks.. zilch. For 8 months straight theyd put out new releases on thursday, 5 days early. Then it stopped two weeks ago.

Walmart and Circuit Shitty by me NEVER put anything out early... EVER. But I dont care. My copy of sunshine is coming today All I really wanted this week.

I went at 10:05am to get RE trilogy, there were two tote bags left, grabbed them both INSTANTLY. They only had one trilogy left too -_-V

My BB never gets stuff early, but usually has stuff on time.

The only thing I see early at my BBs is anime really.

I just order off Amazon.com even though I live in Canada. It's cheaper and I can wait the extra week to get the release. Saves me driving around looking for releases that are never on the shelves.

I don't like buying online as it's a hassel (Amazon.ca - as we cannot order from Amazon.com). I've read lots about orders being cancelled, wrong movies delivered, blah, blah, blah. E-bay isn't much better because the prices aren't really competetive to what you can buy them in the store for - when you factor in shipping (not generally for the titles I am looking for).

So, Unfortunately BB and Future Shop are the only stores in Canada that carry the most and current selections of BD. We don't have Fry's, Circut City is crap, London Drugs is weak, A&B Sound is a dog's breakfast, Sound's'Around doesn't sell movies and unfortunately Walfart just plain sucks.

Just drives me nuts that they do it half-assed here.

I've read several times we cannot order from Amazon.com - has that changed?

I've been doing the Amazon thing a lot, but the northland locations for BB and FS (funny how those 2 are always beside each other, even though one owns the other) has pretty much had all the release titles I've wanted in recent times (but that might have been due to the holidays, etc.).

I've been doing it for years, they ship pretty much everywhere. Also they have some arrangement where they are able to ship to Canada without tax or duty, so it's a great deal when the dollar is around even.

You can order from Amazon.com, I do sometimes. You just can't buy softwares and other products. Mostly, I think it's just books and movies you can buy. Amazon.com offer much better prices on movies. Period.

I don't know if it had changed, but I've picked up probably 30 - 40 of my collection from Amazon.com.

Damn My Best Buy (tristate area) ALWAYS has blu ray movies, last night they had several copies of RE trilogy, and a few left of War. Although they were sold out of Rush Hour 3 KInda glad they were, Chris Tucker is annoying but sometimes funny. Since when is screaming in a high mitch manner become funny? lol
